It's my business birthday !!

broken image

Twenty years ago, to the day, I set up my very first business.

I couldn’t let today pass without marking it somehow. Not with balloons or banners but by sharing a few of the things I’ve learned over two decades of self employment. If you’re running a business, or thinking about starting one, here is just some advice I can share:
✨ Take the risk. It just might all work out.
✨ Believe in yourself. You are more capable than you think.
✨ Ask for the business. They might say no. But they might say yes.
✨ Surround yourself with a good network. Good people want to help you, let them.
✨ Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
✨ There is plenty support out there, just look for it.
✨ Celebrate the wins, no matter how small. They all count.
✨ Don’t overthink everything. Progress is better than perfection.
✨ Keep showing up
✨ Stop worrying about what others think, easier said that done sometimes but we have more cheerleaders than we think.
✨ People buy from people. Be yourself. Be authentic.
✨ Not everyone is your customer — focus your energy where it’s needed.

Twenty years in and I’m still learning, still evolving and very grateful. To everyone who has supported me on this journey — thank you.
Here’s to the next chapter 🥂

Pic…. Me 20 years ago... baby faced - not a worry in the world, I was determined to succeed and sure, if it didn’t work out, I could always get a job. 20 years on, I’m delighted to say it did all work out ! I’m still trading, my business has survived a recession and a global pandemic and we are still here.
